The Detroit Grassroots Cultural Arts Center serves as a multi-cultural, visual, performing and literary art center that empowers the Detroit community to tell their own stories through art and become active in creating positive change.

 

 

 

 

 

DGCAC will elevate cultural arts, grant access to information, and provide a community space that conveys momentum and hope.  Cultural and educational expressions representing diverse communities include: performance art, visual art, independent film, lecture series, a library, workshops, and more. Cultural art is more than entertainment.  Culture moves movements and gives a voice to our community.  It is tool to educate, revitalize, and inspire our communities.  We will continue the work of the United States Social Forum.

 

 

 

 

Ultimately the cultural arts center fills a deep need in our community:

 

 

 

• A grassroots based community theater that celebrates cultural arts

   

• A progressive library to encourage affirmative participation that will uplift the community and provide a meeting space for organizations, youth, and educators, and artists

   

• Editing studio, equipment rental and workshops that provide an opportunity for the grassroots community to tell their own stories through film and music
